4-Day Fly-in Kidepo Valley National Park Safari

Nestled in the remote north-eastern corner of Uganda, Kidepo Valley National Park borders South Sudan to the north and Kenya to the east. Covering approximately 1,442 km², the park lies about 700 km from Kampala and takes 10 hours by road to access it, and is celebrated for its dramatic landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, and remarkably untouched wilderness.

Kidepo's remote location is part of its appeal. The park offers an authentic safari experience far from Uganda's busier tourist destinations, with vast open plains, rugged mountains, and sweeping valleys creating a spectacular backdrop for wildlife viewing. Visitors can encounter large herds of Cape buffalo, African elephants, giraffes, zebras, and numerous other species that thrive across this pristine landscape.

The dry season, particularly from March to September, is generally considered an excellent time for game viewing. As water sources become scarcer and vegetation thins, wildlife is easier to spot and often gathers around the remaining waterholes.

Beyond its natural beauty, Kidepo provides an opportunity to discover the rich cultural traditions of communities living in the surrounding region. Meeting local people and learning about their way of life adds an important cultural dimension to the safari experience.

Despite its secluded setting, Kidepo Valley National Park is accessible by air, with scheduled and chartered flights from major destinations in Uganda taking roughly two hours. For adventurous travelers seeking breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, cultural encounters, and a genuine sense of wilderness, Kidepo is one of Uganda's most remarkable destinations.
