Day 1 — Transfer to Bwindi & Batwa Community Visit

On this day, our professional driver–guide will warmly welcome you at Entebbe International Airport or from your residence and give you a detailed briefing about the journey ahead. Once you are ready, you will begin a scenic road trip to western Uganda, heading toward the mist‑covered hills and ancient rainforests that cradle Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the mountain gorillas.

The drive is approximately 8 hours, covering about [450] km, with a relaxed lunch stop in Mbarara Town. Along the way, Uganda's countryside unfolds in layers: patches of tropical rainforest, open savannah plains, roadside trading centers, vibrant fruit and vegetable markets, and endless plantations. As you approach the Kigezi highlands, the landscape shifts into dramatic, terraced hillsides that have earned this region the nickname "the Switzerland of East Africa."

You will arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon or evening. Check in and enjoy a quiet, unhurried evening, soaking in the forest atmosphere as you prepare for the next day's gorilla encounter.

Meal Plan: Lunch and dinner
Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge or Bakiga Lodge (or similar standard lodge)

Day 2 — Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you collect your packed picnic lunch and take a short drive to the park headquarters. Here you will receive a detailed briefing and meet your professional local guides and trackers, who clearly explain the etiquette, safety guidelines, and conservation rules for mountain gorilla trekking.

Once all groups are allocated, you set off on foot into the forest, starting from the area where your assigned gorilla family was last seen the previous day. The trek can vary in length, typically lasting between 3 and 6 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas and the altitude, which can rise above [7,500] feet. Trails may be steep, slippery, and muddy, so a reasonable level of fitness is essential. We strongly recommend hiring a porter to assist with your daypack and camera gear, and to offer extra support on the challenging sections of the trail.

Although the hike can be demanding, every step through the lush forest rewards you with dramatic scenery, rich birdlife, and sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and hills, making the trek as memorable as the gorilla encounter itself. After your time with the gorillas and the hike back to the trailhead, you return to your vehicle and continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

On arrival, check in at your lodge, relax, and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Elephant Hab Lodge or similar

Day 3 — Game Drive & Boat Cruise along Kazinga Channel

After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will set off with your safari guide for a sunrise game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is the most active time in the savannah, when predators are returning from the night's hunt and grazers begin to move and feed. Keep your eyes open for four of Africa's iconic "Big Five" – elephants, buffaloes, and lions – along with a wide variety of other wildlife including giant forest hogs, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, waterbucks, and, with some luck, elusive hyenas drifting along the plains.

You will explore a mosaic of habitats, from open grasslands to acacia woodland, following tracks where animals are frequently sighted. The game drive ends around midday, after which you return to the lodge for a relaxed hot lunch and a brief rest.

In the afternoon, your guide will transfer you to the jetty for a leisurely boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, the natural waterway that links Lake Edward and Lake George. This section of the park is one of the most densely populated wildlife corridors in East Africa. From the comfort of your boat, you will drift past large concentrations of hippos, elephant families cooling off at the water's edge, buffalo herds coming down to drink, and Nile crocodiles basking on the shores. The channel is also a magnet for birdlife, and keen birders can tick off species such as pelicans, African fish eagles, and, with good fortune, the rare and sought‑after shoebill stork.

As the sun sinks and the light turns golden over the water, you will cruise back to the landing site and drive to your lodge. Enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and a quiet evening, listening to the distant sounds of the bush before retiring for the night.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Accommodation: Elephant Hab Lodge (or equivalent)

Day 4 — Chimpanzee Trekking & Transfer to Entebbe

Rise early for breakfast before setting off to Kalinzu Forest for an unforgettable chimpanzee-tracking adventure. Venture beneath the forest canopy with experienced trackers to find chimpanzees in the wild, watching them leap between branches, play, forage, and interact within their family groups. Later, depart on a scenic cross-country drive toward Kampala or Entebbe International Airport, pausing in Mbarara Town for lunch before reaching your final destination in the evening.
